That's not true at all. You can clearly see vacillation between more elaborate and simpler architectural forms throughout history.

This just sounds like some whiggish defense of modernism.

you are right, i should have said simplicity and not minimalism (mostly in science and religion), oscillation/ movement and counter movement is always there in different formsthough
